Steve Nelson, Vibraphone

Vibraphonist Steve Nelson has been the vibraphonist of choice for artists such as Grant Green in the early 1970s, and in more recent years for Kenny Barron, James Spaulding, Bobby Watson, and David “Fathead” Newman. Nelson has recorded as a leader for Criss Cross, Red, Sunnyside, and TCB. He is featured on the Dave Holland Quintet release, Not For Nothing (ECM Records, 2001).

This Evening's Poet: Dana Gioia

Dana Gioia is one of America’s leading contemporary writers and critics. Winner of the American Book Award and current Chair of the National Endowment for the Arts, Gioia is internationally recognized for his role in reviving rhyme, meter, and narrative in contemporary poetry. He has published three full-length books of poetry: Daily Horoscope (1986), The Gods of Winter (1991), and Interrogations at Noon (2001).
