Fifth Anniversary Celebration New
Orleans Syncopated Swingers and the poetry of Tony Hoagland
Celebrating the musical soul of New Orleans, native son Victor Goines leads an ensemble playing the best of Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, and other traditional early jazz pioneers. Mr. Goines is artistic director of the Juilliard Institute for Jazz Studies and a member of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and the Wynton Marsalis Septet. Award-winning poet Tony Hoagland is the author of Sweet Ruin (1992), Donkey Gospel (1998), What Narcissism Means To Me (2003), and Hard Rain (2005). He writes “hilarious, searing poems that break your heart so fast you hardly notice you’re standing knee deep in a pool of implications.” (Marie Howe) |
